A DUI offender who faced jail time for a probation violation escaped from the Clarke County Courthouse on Thursday afternoon and was arrested a couple hours later when authorities found her hiding in a house in Carrs Hill.

Christina Lori Parks, 24, had been in Clarke County State Court when a judge learned that she violated the terms of her probation and ordered her confined at the Clarke County Jail, sheriff's Capt. Jimps Cole said.
As Parks waited in the courthouse basement for a van to take her to jail, she managed to slip out of her handcuffs and the restraint chair she'd been chained to, Cole said.
"(The) handcuffs and leg cuffs were not placed on her as tight as they should have been," Cole said. "She slipped out of the cuffs."
Parks was convicted in July on charges of DUI, failure to yield to a pedestrian and driving while unlicensed. A judge sentenced her to two years on probation and ordered her to participate in the drug court program, complete 40 hours of community service and attend DUI school and a victim impact panel.
She violated probation several times between August and December, by not attending counseling, and possessing and drinking alcohol, among other things.
