The main danger to road users is the likelihood of a traffic collision. Such dangers can be reduced by individual road users operating cautiously and defensively, by building roads in alignment with competent traffic engineering practices, by the application of rational traffic control methods, and by designing road vehicles so they are more able to avoid and survive collisions. The Automobile Association was established in 1905 in the United Kingdom to help motorists avoid police speed traps. They became involved in other safety issues and also erected thousands of roadside warning signs. The Pedestrians Association in the United Kingdom was formed in 1929 to press for better road safety. Other groups have been active in other countries. Motoring advocacy groups including the Association of British Drivers (UK), Speed cameras.org (UK), National Motorists Association (USA/Canada) argue that the strict enforcement of speed limits does not necessarily result in safer driving, and may even have |negative effect on road safety in general. Red Light Camera Company Posts Car Crash Montages On YouTube By Chris Morran on December 28, 2011 4:15 PM We're all familiar with traffic cam footage being used in local news highlights of rain-slicked roads or cars drifting through snowy intersections, but one of the country's biggest suppliers of red light traffic cameras has been posting collections of crash clips on YouTube to show how dangerous running a red light can be. "Each year more than 100000 people are injured and hundreds are killed in red-light running related collisions," reads the text at the beginning of one montage taken from various cameras in New Jersey. And after all the smashing, sliding, crashing and crunching is done, more text states, "Please, Stop on Red. The life you save may be your own." Pain at the pump is on the rise as gas prices creep higher and higher. The national motorists association, AAA, says there's no way to tell how high prices may go. Currently, a gallon of regular gas is flirting with the three dollar mark. It's been creeping up since August, and there's no way to tell when it'll stop. With climbing gas prices all around us, it's hard not to worry. "I have to get to work and back. But it's going to change somehow," said one Albuquerque driver. KOB Eyewitness News 4 talked with a AAA spokesman over Skype. He says rising gas prices are a national trend, fueled by high oil prices. "Over the last month we've seen, in most markets in New Mexico, a pretty significant increase in gas prices," explained AAA's Dan Ronan.

No driver should receive a ticket for failing to wear their seat belt. If you don't wear a vehicle safety belt, who are you hurting? Who's rights are you infringing if you don't wear a seatbelt? It's stupid! Stop Seat Belt Enforcement Zones! Click It or Ticket (CIOT) is a revenue scheme for the nanny state and has nothing to do with "safety". If I don't wear my seat belt, that's none of your business, and it's none of my business if you don't wear yours. New Hampshire doesn't have a primary or secondary seatbelt enforcement law, and thier state traffic fatality-rate is very low. Road-side safety belt checkpoints are unnecessary and unconstitutional. Laws that allow police to stop drivers for not wearing their seat belts are enacted to lure millions in federal funds (taxpayer funds) to the state. Beginning in late 1999, FHWA has worked with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) to coordinate and sponsor the event. Since then other transportation partners have joined the effort to support NWZAW. In addition to a National event conducted each year, many States host their own NWZAW events.
