A man is asked over and over if he has had anything to drink that evening. He mearly didnt awnser the question, and was allowed to go. These DUI check-points are nothing more than entrapment, and a violation of our rights. Innocent until proven guilty? I think not. Guilty until proven innocent fits DUI check points more appropriately.

Smart ass passes through dui checkpoint. I am a critic of dui checkpoints, and at times I am a critic of Gardena Police Department. That said, this particular checkpoint allowed motorists to turn left on the approach in sight of officers. I tested this out, and no attempt was made to prevent me from picking an alternate route. Additionally, the checkpoint was well marked to an extent. There were several signs, although only one was before a major street, and only about 15 yards in advance. Not to get off topic though. Gardena police appeared to make an effort to be in compliance with standards that typically are ignored by other departments, and at times by their own department as well. Even though I was called a smart ass, and didnt bend over backwards to answer questions, I was sent on my way with minimal delay. If your also a critic of checkpoints and a defender of the 4th amendment like I usually am, you might not like the sound of these comments. Of course all suspicionless checkpoints are in violation of the fourth amendment. I almost feel guilty for not being more critical of this checkpoint. But it is what it is. So I am thanking the Gardena Police Department for their efforts, and saving me the hassle of having to stand out there with a sign. The fact is I enjoy doing the sign myself. But since they took care of it, what more could I do? I checked it out, checked them out...I will be saving my energy for the next Hawthorne CDL checkpoint. Their last was an ...

Just because you guys can identify a burnt bulb doesnt excuse you from following the guidelines set out for the use of the grants from berkley...Then again, just because your not following the guidelines, doesnt mean it will matter. If you want to know, I prefer the daytime cdl checkpoints, because those are the ones you think your going to make a killing on, and also the ones that are easiest for me to detour all the cars in the other direction...leaving you with your ding dings in you hand. I restore the 4th amendment for citizens in Gardena and Hawthorne. The law requires police to allow motorists to turn off and avoid checkpoints. Usually though, the opposite is true. Last night, 2-24-2012 I observed a checkpoint (also in Gardena) that allowed motorists to turn off, without being chased down and pulled over for doing so. While that is a nice change, the fourth amendment does not allow for suspicionless stops. The constitution trumps any court decision, especially one based on lies. I went through a checkpoint in San Diego July 2011. It was my first time ever going through one so I decided to roll the camera. The conduct of the police is outrageous.
